    malware or software glitch?

    hi

my computer has been acting a bit strange when i'm online.sometimes when surfing the task bar flashes quickly with a transparent blue which blocks out some of the icons, also at the top of the screen the same happens.

i have done full scans on my computer with malwarebytes, spybot avira free antivir and superantispyware (free) with no detections of malware.

i was thinking that maybe its some kind of software glitch.

also i left my computer on for a while and out of the blue comodo came up with a warning that svchost.exe was about to receive a connection from another computer 192.168.1.67 UDP on port 51799-it suggested to block it.

i know this maybe malware related but i thought i'd post here in case some one can tell me if it's just a software issue before i post to a malware forum.

    TIA

    regards,

    ken

    Hey.

Task Bar and Toolbar in IE will flash, When there is a dialog box open. or a Pop up from IE that requires your attention.

Next time it does it. check your IE icon on the task bar. Is it flashing orange?. Try Minimizing IE to see if theres a dialog box behind it.

    thanks for response

    hi,

i should have said-i'm using firefox with this in mind will this be the same thing you have explained?

the flashing doesn't seem to be- what can i say, system related it's like it's random the way the flashes occur as if it's something out of control, not a system response.

that being said i will check the firefox icon to see if its orange and minimize firefox to see if there's a dialog box behind it.

if you can give give any further input as to what i've added that would be great!

    TIA

    regards,

    ken

If it only does it in Firefox. Try re-installing And or, making sure the browser is up to date.

If you have another computer on the same network, most likely it's absolute normal. Check if the local port is UDP 137 or 138 (the 51799 is most likely remote) if so, the connection is due to the built-in file sharing and naming Windows has, and allowing it is perfectly safe from local network. If the connection comes from internet block it though.
