    New Build- simple question(s)

Hi folks. Well with W7 due to drop through my door this month I succumbed to tech addiction and what was gonna be an upgrade has turned into a new pc.

    First I ordered this bundle:
    *OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz Max / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard / Patriot Viper 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle [] Overclocked Bundles Intel Bundles

    This includes a Noctua NH-U12P

I was just going to stick this in my current rig but then got a bit crazy with the credit card and ordered these:

Buy Cooler Master ATCS 840 ATX Case*RC-840-KKN1-GP from CCL - Online Retailer of the Year 2008, 2007 & 2006 for laptops, desktops and computer hardwar

Buy 850W Be Quiet! Dark Power PRO Modular Power Supply*BN075 from CCL - Online Retailer of the Year 2008, 2007 & 2006 for laptops, desktops and computer hardware

My intention is to put this lot together and then put in the Samsung F1 1TB with my Vistax64/ Windows 7 RTM from my current pc.

So I have a couple of queries.

Firstly, given this is a new mobo and bios, will I just be able to plug in and boot up using my current dual boot setup?

Secondly can anyone foresee any problems with these components and the build?

    Thanks in advance, John:)

looks like a nice rig you're putting together there, can't see any problems with the spec.

your new system will probably boot okay, but will then find a zillion new drivers, and install them probably successfully. whether or not it will be nice and stable is another matter, but it probably will be...

or you could wait until you get a retail copy, and do a proper clean install.

although upgrade installs do work, there's nothing like a clean one for peace of mind.

    Thanks for the reply Mickey.

I do intend to do a fresh install once I get my retail disk but I was hoping to run this until then.
My intention is to install over my Vista partition and maybe replace it in the dual boot with the new Ubuntu (it seems a long silence regarding Google OS)

Hopefully I can then reinstall Vista on my current rig and sell it as a complete package.

I have my Chinese frankenbuild of W7 or the RC plus several other W7 builds if I need to do a fresh install, or maybe I could fresh install Vista and then restore W7 and maintain my current dual boot that way.

    Can't wait! Thanks again, John
