What is the possibility of Windows installation CD being backdoored?

I recently read somewhere that pirated Windows CD are backdoored and viruses are installed with windows installation. Is it true? Is it possible for an attacker to do something like that?

I think the possibility of this is less but it maybe possible.

Also please point me to any security articles regarding this.

    Thanks!

I would think it would be fairly easy to add things to the default ISO with programs like nlite or even Microsoft's Windows Automated Installation Kit. Using a Pirated install image is one of the easiest ways to compromise your system. Be carful what you link to or talk about or you could end up violating the forum rules against discussing pirating windows.

Buy a legal copy of Win7 and you have no worries.

I actually bought a Windows copy despite everyones' opposition (third world).

But I want to know more about how Windows can be backdoored. Please point me to articles or give information on how an attacker would do it.

    Thanks!

I think this would be extremely easy to do.

Buy a legal copy and it can't though.

    Forum Rule No
