Strange Freezing Problem, assistance needed...

Hello everyone I just joined this forum for this specific problem and I've read through some of your threads and everyone seems very helpful so I'm glad to be a part of your group. I did search the forum and tried some solutions suggested but had no luck.
I bought my laptop about 5 months ago. It's a Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook. I put all of the specs in my profile. The computer had been great but about a month ago it froze on me randomly, not doing anything CPU intensive. I hadn't made any changes before this, no new programs or updates, it just happened out of the blue. It happens about 5 to 15 minutes after I boot up, but it seems if i make it past the 15 minute mark, than it won't freeze and will perform fine after that. About 3 times now I've gotten a blue screen saying unknown error again about 10 minutes after boot up. Another detail is that when I boot up in safe mode, everything works fine, it has never frozen on me in safe mode. I'm not sure if that means anything or not but I suspect that it is some random process that the problem is with and this process doesn't run in safe mode. Sometimes It boots up and runs great, but most of the time I have this freezing problem. I'm sure that if I re-install the OS everything will be fine, but I'm not sure how to do this if my laptop didn't come with a OS disc. I could get an OS elsewhere** but I like the features that my laptop comes with, like Fn Keys, trackpad gestures, etc and I know I'll lose all that if i use a non-legit OS.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for me to help solve this problem I would appreciate it very much. Thank You!
Chris

Have you tried to do a system restore to before the problem occurred? That would be my first bet, make sure you back up important files

Yes I tried a system restore but unfortunately the only restore pint I had was after the problem started happening. Still have the problem after restoring. Another detail I forget to mention is that rarely when I try to boot up it will get past the log in screen but the desktop will never load and just stays black. I'm not sure if that means anything but I just though I'd mention it. Thanks for the quick reply!!

Yes I did yesterday after reading through some old posts. It did find 1 thing, cant remember exactly what it was, I think it said a broken link or broken DLL or something like that, didn't look like anything major. I removed it and still had a freeze last night.

Here this is what it found:

Registry Data Items Detected: 1
HKCR\regfile\shell\open\command| (Broken.OpenCommand) -> Bad: ("regedit.exe" "%1") Good: (regedit.exe "%1") -> Quarantined and repaired successfully.

Also try running "sfc /scannow" in command prompt

If it's working fine in safe mode, Then it is possibly Malware, Drivers, or a programme. What Anti Virus do you have?.

I don't use any anti-virus. I am fairly advanced with using computers and have come to notice that for the most part, you only get a virus if you download one thinking its something else. Like a 150kB movie file that's an .exe. I made that mistake once and never again. I don't use anti-virus also because it just seems to slow everything down in general with no benefits. I am just cautious about what i download and haven't had a virus in years. I did run the sfc scannow last night and it said there was nothing wrong. Also I regularly use CCleaner so my registry is good.

Also not sure. if this is relevant but I rarely if ever update my computer. Usually if things are working good and I update there is usually something changed that I don't or something else will stop working so for this reason I never update. Windows update says there is 30 important updates available, any chance doing the updates would help??
