ASUS Laptop AS52F cannot communicate with Brother All-In-One

_ I have Windows 7 64-bit. I was able to print from aASUS A527 through the Brother MFC-J265w wirelessly until I unfortunately downloaded "Coupon Printer software." The software did not work so I uninstalled it though Control Panel. Since then the laptop will not print. It gives the message "Cannot communicate with printer" when I try to print. The Brother All-in-One does appear in "Printers and Devices and is marked "Ready" as the "DEfault Printer."

If you still have problems, do a System Restore to before the date that you downloaded "Coupon Printer Software".

    Gregrocker,

Thank you for tht suggestion. I ran the Troubleshooter. It found a problem (no communciation between the computer and the printer) but it could no fix it. I also uninstalled and renstalled the software but that did not help ither.

    Run Malwarebytes
    and SUPERAntiSpyware.com
    full scans.

You may have deeper corruption especially if you're running the factory preinstall which is a corrupt install to begin with which throttles Win7 native performance and causes endless issues. This is why most tech enthusiasts prefer to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If you stick with the tools and methods in the tutorial you'll get and keep a perfect install for as long as you do. Avoid dodgy sites and guard installs against hitchhikers like a doberman.

ASUS Laptop AS52F cannot communicate with Brother All-In-One

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, ran the troubleshooter and restored the computer to a date much earlier than when the computer began not being able to communicate with the printer, but I still have the same problem. I gave up and decided to reinstall the printer with a USB connection instead of wirelessly, but have not had success with that. When I go through that process and click on "Finish" a small window opens that should show the name of my printer, but the window is blank. Are you able to point me to a simple set of instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling the Brother MFC-J265w all-in-one using a USB connection?

Background: Both the Laptop and the All-In-One were bought in May, 2011 so they are out-of-warranty.
The Modem/Router was provided, installed and set-up, by Bright House. They charged $150 and promised lifetime warranty. In September, 2012 we moved to another County. Bright House again set-up our equipment but swapped modem/routers to one they said we needed in this area. They did not charge anything for doing that and feel no obligation regarding the waranty we thought we had. I called Bright House about this current problem, but they said "As long as the computer can get online" it is not a Bright House problem. I must talk with ASSUS or Brother" (but both pieces of equipment are out of warranty). So I cannot turn to any of them for help. I will appreciate any information you may be able to send me.

A Thought Just came to Mind. My desktop computer is connected to the same modem/router as my laptop. I do not have any of the infomation that Bright House used to set-up our system in our new home. Would there possibly be a place where I could go on my Desktop computer to get any information on its setup? (Grabbing at straws.)

Hit your Start button and go into "Devices and Printers". Make sure the Brother is the default printer.

    Hi Gregrocker,

I received notice of a message from you that asked "had I even read your message Number 6?" When I click on the link in that message it brought me to the Forum, but that message did not appear on he thread this morning (even though it had been here earlier in the night). I do not understand why that happened, but I did read your earlier message last night. I did not reply then because I was not sure what to say. I wanted to think about it.

I have a laptop and a desktop, both of the, came with Windows 7 64-bit. The desktop is the one where I tried to install the "coupon Clipper" software that brought the "Not able to communicate with the printer" problem. This problem only showed up on the laptop after that. The problem was corrected on the laptop by using some instructions that had been provided by HP Technical Support. Those instructions, which did not include reinstalling the operating system, worked on my HP desktop and its HP printer. Those same instructions did not work on the ASUS laptop and its printer. That is why I turned to this forum for help. Since the problem was corrected on the desktop with reinstalling the operating system, I did not want to try doing that. But I wanted to think more about it before responding to you message.
