Win Speech Recognition won't work

I purchased a new laptop with Win 7 64 bit and wanted to restore the speech profile using the profile I saved on flash drive from my XP machine (32 bit). The profile had a lot of training (about 30 megs) and had an extension of .SPF. Somehow I got this to work on my Win 7 desktop but I can’t remember how. I’ve been using a download called “Windows Speech Recognition Profile Backup and Restore”. Using the restore option, it asks you to browse to your saved Profile with a .WSRProfile extension but my file is .SPF. Is this why it won’t work? Is this a Win XP vs Win 7 conflict? Can it be fixed?

Frustrated, I decided to give up and retrain it from scratch and I was defeated again. I checked the mike to be sure it was reading. Seemed OK. The training text would scroll as I read for a while and then stop, requiring me to pause and restart. After a lot of reading , I tried to use the program using my MS Word 2003. All I got was garbage. After many attempts it was obvious that the training didn’t work. What went wrong?
