"Completing installation" hang when installing to CF card
Here's my setup:
HP TC1100 TabletPC with an offbrand/Chinese IDE-to-CF adapter. 32GB Team CF card installed (bought on Newegg to make sure it wasn't a card with spoofed capacity or anything). I'm installing Windows 7 Enterprise off a thumb drive created using MS's official "install Windows from a USB drive" tool.
I used the same thumb drive to install Windows 7 to the IDE drive that was already in the tablet. I'm trying to reinstall since I wanted to "upgrade" to a quasi-SSD. Installation is getting stuck on "Completing installation...".
Not entirely sure where the issue lies. I know that certain things won't work until I'm done installing, like the Wacom digitizer built into the display, but at this point there's no hardware installed that I can remove for troubleshooting purposes. The machine worked fine with Windows 7 on the hard drive, so I'm guessing something with the CF is the problem. Is there a special trick I need to do in this scenario?
