    Open Dialog issue

    Hi,

Something wrong, on Open Dialog, Windows used to pull all shortcut on the Desktop and an important one which was "My Computer" that would help me have access my different drives.

The way the open dialog is designed I have no possibility to access C, D, etc...

Any idea on how to fix this?

    Thanks.

Hello xxx59712, and welcome to Seven Forums.

What did you open this one from?

If this has just recently happened, then you could do a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated before this started to fix it.

If that is not an option, then you could try running a sfc /scannow command to see if it may help if it's a corrupted or modified system file at fault.

Hope this helps for now, :)

This is coming from "Scan Folder..." in KC Soft Sumo but other softwares have the same problem.

It is like if the only folder associated with Desktop is Users and that the usual My Computer, etc... are missing.

I am sure one setting in the reg must have been changed but how, that I do not know.

PS : I have no system restore and sfc did report problems, fixed them, but the problem is still there. Thanks for trying to help me.

If the same dialog used to show them before for this same program, then you could also try a repair install if you like since you have no restore points.

Thanks Microsoft. "It is not bug, it is a feature".

    Found the answer here.

If you have more than 200 icons on your desktop, this is what is happening, reducing the number of icons solved the issue.

    Thanks for your help.
