    Win 7 doesn't... work??

    Hi,

first, sorry if my english is bad, i'm french.

I have installed Win 7 since a few time and .. it doesn't work at all.
First, I haven't got transparency, "aero" seems not to be launched. Moreover, Windows Update doesn't work, I've an error message (not the MSI problem, an error which links you to support and which doesn't help you ^^), my devices like my mouse doesn't work.
I saw, moreover, that my 8400M GS is saw like a 16MB card...

When I want to update a device driver, it blocks, like windows update, whereas i'm connected at a wifi point,... Everything is bad

    Re-edit: I've got a laptop, a Vostro 1510, with a T9300, a 8400MGS, 3G RAM,.. Tell me if you need informations :) Thanks!!

So, as you can see, everything is going bad, i don't know why, nothing is working fine... Do you know what is the problem??

    Thanks a lot!

And sorry again for my english x)

    Salut, xMhO...

It seems you don't have the appropriate drivers for your devices...or you are experiencing a very messed up installation issue.

Do you have network drivers at least? can you connect to the internet?

If not, I suggest you find network drivers (the Vista driver version of your network card) and install it. Then once you get on the internet with your Windows 7, start Windows Update and let it install any updates found. This should fix most of your problems.

If you need more help on the matter, please post here you computer's brand/model.

    Hello!

Yes i've my network drivers, my wifi works, i posted my message using win 7.

The bugs are with updates and so on, it doesn't work, i've code error codes or i can't cancel the progress bar -cuz lasts a long time before error, it's boring-, ..

Moreover I saw in MSCONFIG that many services were stopped, most of them, is it normal?

I already tried to reinstall it many times, with 2 different DVDs and 2 different ISOs downloaded 2 times in MS website, and bug again Then i don't thing it could be because of a bad installation..

Thanks a lot for your help!! :)

Yes the stopped services is correct. They only start when needed.

Have you installed any hacks or tweaks after the installations or they are clean?

    You could try :

    start regedit
    navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions
    rename MachineThrottling to _MachineThrottling

and try running Windows Update again

    Hello again!

It is a clean installation, I haven't made anything, I installed it on a new partition of 25Go

For the manipulation in the registry, I already tried, thinking it was the same problem than the others but it doesn't work
    Can you help me?

    Thanks a lot!

    Ok, let's start over..

Have you downloaded any drivers since install?
Not from Windows Update, manually from the manufacturer's page.

Can you post your motherboard model?

If you don't know it, you can download this small tool which will show it to you.

Was that 25 gigs or 250 gigs on your partition. 25 gigs is NOT enough room. You need at least 50. I have win 7, cs4, and office on plus 2 games and I am running about 65 gigs out of 600.

I just found that, for the motherboard: Dell Inc. 0G914C
It must be because it is a Dell Vostro.. Maybe a strange MB...

No, i haven't installed other drivers :) I tried my wireless mouse but it doesn't work too, it blocks when windows searchs for drivers in Windows Update...

I confirm, with CPU-Z they tell me again this MB, with Intel chipset PM965 and southbridge: 82801HBM (ICH8-ME)

elleon: My HD is a 320Go, but I made a partition of 25Go for Win 7 to test it :)

EDIT: I g2g, thank you mates, I answer you tomorrow, in France there is the night :) GB

Where did you get your Win7 from? If from a 'not trusted source' i would say the iso may be nuked. (have seen this before) and even if you got it from MS, i would recommend re downloading it and trying again. Or try burning at a slower speed. the only thing i can suggest with this.
