    Can't download anything

Can't install Acronis 2013, Norton Internet Security 2013 and a reinstall of my HP printer. My printer is not working; a reinstall failed. I have a terrible feeling that I ruined the Registry the other day when I tried to uninstall a program with Revo Uninstaller. I know that only bold face boxes should be deleted in Revo but I remember inadvertently clicking on a bold box "My Computer."
I've done sfc /scannow, chkdsk/r, etc., Window Installer in Services to make sure it's on, etc. I've always been in mortal fear of fooling around with the Registry--won't go near it, but the prospect of a clean install (Windows 7 64) makes my hair stand on end. Will appreciate ideas from your collective brilliant brains. ellen

revo creates a back up of the registry when you delete, try rolling back using revo,

    to roll back with revo,
    open revo,
click tools /backup manager ,in the list that shows select when you deleted recently, click on it to highlight it, then click the restore arrow above in the toolbar.

if that wont work do a system restore .

    Hi ellenc
I have just read through your previous posts and you do seem to have a lot of unresolved problems! Or rather many suggestions to resolving them have been made and we have no idea if you have tried any of the suggestions. I would respectfully suggest that you solve one problem before trying to download any further software. I might add that these so called "cleaner software applications" are not only not needed in the Windows 7 environment but often do more harm than good. Many of the "cleaners" were useful in Windows XP but are more of a hindrance than a help in Win 7. They are just not needed (IMHO of course)

I've used Revo for years with nary a problem from it yet. I agree with the previous posters here, try a system restore. If you REALLY think Revo was the culprit here then that should resolve that. What concerns me is what mitchell65 said about your previous posts. You need to do/attempt at least the fixes that are suggested to you. As an aside ....... these wonderful magic boxes are just machines in the end. They do what we TELL them to do and nothing more or less. Theres no reason to fear working on them. Excessive fear may lead to mistakes. Always remember that even if you DO totally screw something up beyond repair, theres help available here to put everything back right.

    I discovered install problem cause

Thanks very much to you all who replied quickly and helpfully. I believe the cause of current problems is the Iminent virus that I just discovered has hijacked my home page. When I set my home page again, Iminent kept coming back -- "search...imminent." I've downloaded a lot of info about how to remove it.
I agree, Revo is a great program that I use much more often than Add/Remove Programs. It's just that I inadvertently checked the wrong bold box in Revo at the end when it clears registry leftovers. I won't be in such a rush again and make sure I check the correct bolded boxes.
I value this forum so much; I don't use any other and won't post any problems again till I've fixed the existing ones. ellen
