    start up account login issues

When my PC starts, instead of logging into my Winows user account, I see a prompt that I would see if I had tried to log in to that account with the wrong password. I push enter and then type the password and it goes on as it should. Is there a way to streamline this that doesn't involve reinstalling Windows? I would like it to just prompt for the password rather than return - wait for a wile - and then password.

Hello Jesse yep it's pain eh? One thing you could try is to change the password - nothing to lose.

    Hello Jesse,

Did you set Windows to log on to your user account automatically at startup?

    Log On Automatically at Startup

If so, then it sounds like it's not currently set with the correct password. You will need to use the tutorial above again to set it with the correct password for your user account.

    Hope this helps, :)

OK, there seems to be a bit of forward moment now. There are actually two user accounts: admin and basic. Now I have to click on either admin or basic and enter the corresponding password. I would like to have basic automatically selected so all I have to do is enter the password. Can that be done?

The only way I can think of for this is do what you had before with Windows set to log on to the account you want this for with the wrong password entered.

Either way, it will not be exactly what you wanted unless you only have one user account without auto log on.

You might take a look at this to see if it may work for users to enter a user name and password.

I just removed the password from the basic account and set it to auto login. Thanks for the advice.
