windows explorer re-starts every 8 seconds. how do I solve this?

I have windows explorer 7 home basic on my laptop. This problem started when I was browsing the internet (with internet explorer 9 ). Suddenly there was the massage saying 'internet explorer has stopped working' and it kept restarting. Then I closed internet explorer. Then the massage 'WINDOWS EXPLORER has stopped working started to appear and windows explorer started to restart every 8-10 seconds.
I tried every thing within my knowledge, removed the new programs I had downloaded that day, scanned for viruses, did system restore several times (in safe mode as nothing can be done the normal way any more.)
Tried sfc/scan which resulted the massage' windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations'.
Nothing seems to solve this problem.
I also get repeated explorer.exe Application error massages saying 'The instruction at 0x70f253fe referenced memory at 0x00820000 (different numbers appear here at different times). The memory could not be written. Click OK to terminate.'
Internet explorer works fine now except constant disturbances with windows error massages.
I would be really really grateful if someone could help me solve this.
    Thanks!

It sounds like it could be a RAM problem, you may want to run some diagnostics on it to rule it out. Something like this may do it for you. Memtest86.com - Memory Diagnostic
If your RAM checks out OK I think I'd check your hard drive for errors.

I'm not sure how a computer fixes itself. Just in case a problems comes back fill in your specs now. They will follow your every post. At the bottom of these post tick on (My System Specs) and you will see what I mean. A couple of things to help.
