    Desktop icons become disabled

My laptop desktop icons open and repond normally after the intial boot of the system.
However, once having opened one program or file and returning to desktop to open another program any selected icon will not respond.
If I use All Programs the reponse is normal.
I do not know when this occured so a Restore is ineffective.
Have run Glarey, Malwares, CCleaner scans.
    WIndows 7 Home Premium, 64bit, IE9.
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Woodie.

Woodie welcome to the Forum. What is a Glarey?
Not knowing when this happened doesn't mean you can't run Restore Point if you have any. If the first Restore Point doesn't take care of the problem just select another one farther back in time. Because you have Ccleaner can you give us one of these. Open Ccleaner and go to tools/uninstall. Lower right corner (save to text file) and upload the text file here.

    Thanks for your response.

Glarey Utilities is a system cleaner/optimizer which is not too aggressive.

Have tried Restore points back for several months.

First thing I recommend doing is removing Glarey Utilities. Those tuneup utilities do more damage than we will ever know. Windows 7 does not need or want tuned up.

Then I would suggest doing this as per instructions. It will check Windows 7 System Files and if needed correct them if it can. SFC /SCANNOW. Please read and understand first.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

After completing get back to us if you are still having problems. Their are other things that can be done or checked.

Have carried out previously a SFC /SCAN with nil improvement.

Thanks for your input, however now have to discontinue this thread due to a household problem.

Will restart in the future hopefully.
