How to change screenshots to write to a folder rather then clipboard ?

Hi,

I notice in Windows 8 slight changes have been made to where screen shots are written to. In previous versions of windows they've always been written to the clipboard with each additional screenshot being overwritten but now in windows 8 they appear to be written and stored in a folder which means you can take multiple screenshots without the previous one being overwritten.

I want to know if it's possible to make that feature available in windows 7 since it was a big leap for me to upgrade from XP and if it wasn't for carrying features over from XP I wouldn't have upgraded ie T800's Folder Options X It would be really neat if they could add that to their utility

Believe you'll need a clipboard enhancer utility and there are many, some are free. Rather than recommend a specific tool you may want to do a web search for free download clipboard utility

I'll suggest http://www.bcheck.net/apps/purrint.htm because it is tiny, free and no adverts. It uses BMP files for the output.

Here is a virustotal scan of that app - not sure why Panda does not like it.

I personally don't use that tool because I have no need of such.

Thanks for the suggestion but it seems using above tool prompts for an immediate action. I would want one where I could press screen shot several times in short space of time with them automatically being saved somewhere otherwise I could just use the snipping tool ?

Say for example I'm watching a live video steam and instead of recording I just want to snap a couple of shots maybe even several effectively capturing it like a video.. It's not really important but I just felt it was neat improvement and one I had hoped for in previous versions so is nice to see its now available.

I'm not ready to upgrade to windows 8 as I like to leave it for at least 3 years plus it seems T800's Folder Options X might not be supported which its really important to have control and be able to organize my files.. a feature I desperately wanted while using windows xp was a context menu to be able to arrange files in descending order which turned up in windows 7 so is great

I will attempt to contact T800 to see if they can possibly help. If anyone else knows then please feel free to add to the thread

You need to turn on the automatic saving feature via the options window.

Please watch this at 720p and in the full screen mode:

T800 is a single individual. He might be willing to add this feature to that script. You can ask for that here:
Folder Options X for Windows 7 - Page 2 - Utilities - AutoHotkey Community

I've written a tool like this using AutoIt3 (it was for someone else to use) but I've been away from AutoHotKey too long to know how hard it would be to code this in that scripting language. Nothing that I could write would be as tiny (take up as little RAM) as the software that I pointed you too.

Hey,

Well in that case it actually seems to work pretty well and I will give it a try.. unfortunately I already contacted T800 through private message via utube but is ok as I thanked him for his work on Folder Options X and offered to donate Paypal. Thanks for taking time to make video

You are welcome.

I could have written out the steps on how to change the option settings, but I wanted to show that the app does its thing pretty quickly too - hence the video :-)

Hey,

Since installing Purrint it has not worked as I expected.. even after restart it continues to capture just my desktop minus any opened windows and minus my taskbar and start menu ?

Edit 7//7/13: Using ShareX which seems to work good. Not exactly what I wanted but at least it's nice piece of software and works good
