Hello Moe,

Could you post the link to where you downloaded and added Take Ownership from?

We need to look at it to see how they added "Take Ownership" to be able to remove it properly since the method is not always the same.

Moe,

If that's the only "Take Ownership" download you used, then the Remove Take Ownership Option.reg in the download should have removed it.

When you double click on the .reg file to merge it, are you prompted to click on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK afterwards? Be sure that you click on these to fully approve the merge, otherwise it will not remove the context menu.

In addition, you might also restart the computer to see if that may help.

If you know what you are doing in the registry, then these keys in red below are what needs to be deleted at these locations. This is what the remove .reg does for you automatically.

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\takeownership]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\takeownership]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllfile\shell\takeownership]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\takeownership]

You might use the Find and Find next (F3) feature in the registry to search for all takeownership entries in the registry, and delete them as found. When finished, restart to see if that may help.
Registry Editor - Find and Find Next

To be safe, it is recommended to create a restore point before doing this. This way if you make a mistake in the registry, you can easily do a system restore with the restore point to undo it.
