Windows Desktop Manager crash nvwgf2umx.dll

Hello,
we have a computer that has been giving us a little bit of grief for the last few days. It has a Geforce 9800GT graphics card, with the latest WHQL certified drivers (v314.07) installed. Every now and then there is a Windows Error notification in the taskbar that says that Windows Desktop Manager has quit working.
I checked the event log and it was pointing to nvwgf2umx.dll, which seems to be a Nvidia graphics driver.

As per the recommendations on other forum posts, I completely uninstalled all the Nvidia drivers (v310.xx) and restarted the system. I performed a clean install of the Nvidia drivers to the latest version, except the 3D Vision drivers as they are not needed on this system and I read that they could potentially be part of the problem.) This issue was also causing internet explorer to crash so in the 'Advanced' tab of internet options I disabled the GPU assisted rendering. This seems to have fixed IE's problem, but it still persists with the Windows Desktop Manager.

I have run a SFC and it said that there were no issues. As of the moment I have stopped the service and disabled it from starting up, but I actually want to fix this issue and not just ignore it.

Thanks

What about installing a older driver version?
