Why is my Windows 7 SEARCH in the File Manager so screwed up?

XP, Vista, etc when you performed a SEARCH, Had the Bar at the top identifying the Fields found in the SEARCH like in normal operations.
In Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on BOTH of my HP PC's, when I do a SEARCH the Label bar at the top is no longer there and can find no way to bring it back.
Example: If I choose "Detail" the entire right panel contains just ICONS, no text, no name, no location, NOTHING (see attachments)
"List" produces the file Name but nothing else, no label bar, NO other fields. "Content" gives three flields, Name, Type and Date/size.
I miss the BAR of fields like in normal operations of the File Manager when doing a SEARCH as it is in XP, Vista, and normal use of the File Manager. It all disappeared when I got Windows 7.

Any Tweaks that can bring the BAR back?

Can anyone explain why Microsoft would make such a radical change to such useful information of telling you on a SEARCH where the FILE EXIST, etc?

Missing something. Don't want to turn SEARCH off, just get it to work right or at least like it use to or like it does in all other Microsoft's OS's.
Or, is turning it OFF then back ON is suppose to make it work?
Does other users SEARCH DISPLAY the fields and label them at top? Both my Laptop and Desktop act same way.

    Hello jagman,

You might see if resetting folder views back to default may be able to help.

Folder View Settings - Reset All to Default

    Hope this helps, :)

OK tried as much as I could, but Nothing seems to help.
The Windows works perfect except in the SEARCH mode, the field bar is there all the time UNTIL, Windows completes the SEARCH and when it puts the results in the right windows, it wipes out the field bar at the top and when you hit something outside the window, the field bar comes back.

Like I put in the original post, when choosing DETAIL, in normal mode, ALL the data is displayed but in SEARCH mode, it puts ONE Icon and nothing else, not even the NAME, SIZE, etc.

IT HAS to be a window BUG as it happens on both my PC's purchased about a year ago, both, Win 7 Home Premium, 64 bit.

If i happened on just one of my PC, then it makes sense the problem is on ONE of my OS's.

But two separate PC with nothing in common except they both run the same operating system but they dont even have the same updates in sync.

You are saying, your windows 7 SEARCH gives you the field bar at the top with the SEARCH results so you can SORT by pressing the field?

Are you aware of any version of Windows 7 that functions correctly on a SEARCH display with the FIELD BAR at the top?

Part of the problem may be that you're running one of the most corrupt installs of Win7 possible: the HP preinstalled bloatware throttles and smothers WIn7 native performance.

This is why most tech enthusiasts wont' run such an install but instead Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Read the Special Notes for HP Owners at the end.

At the minimum I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware .

When I have problems finding something typed in the Start Search box, I rebuild the Index making sure I select everywhere I have files I might want to find: Index - Rebuild - Windows 7 Forums . But the HP crapware is so pervasive it's likely ruined this as well as everything else that's smooth and sleek about Win7.

I have NO doubts you are correct

Have considered letting my warranty lapse as only reason keeping the NEXT crappiest OS in the world, Home Premium. My favorites were Unix and IBM's OS2 but no one would create drivers for OS2.

Thanks, will try what you suggest as HP gave me this OS with purchase of new PC's, and help desks overseas do not like to help on the HP/WINDOWS OS and some try to say OS is not covered under warranty but management says it is.

Make your HP Recovery disks first so you have a path back if you need to ship it in under warranty. Most OEM's will not support a Clean Reinstall as their job is to enforce the sponsors' bloatware. But you can get much better help here, where we specialize in Clean Reinstalling so users enjoy the OS's native state.
