Invalid MS-DOS function when copying

Hi.
I have a virtual cd image in the .bin format.
When mounted in Windows 7 I copy all files with no problem.
In windows 8 though, a .dll file gives me Invalid MS-DOS function.
I have tried everything(take ownership, xcopy, totalcommander, safemode) but nothing works.
Any idea will be appreciated(mainly about WHY is this happenning)
