Automatic restart then error repair. What's happening?

My computer restarted on it’s own and then went into safe mode. But I couldn’t choose for it to start in safe mode or in normal mode with the arrows on the keyboard. It restarted itself again and got to the desktop. I then discovered that my keyboard wasn’t working when I tried to answer an email. I thought maybe ports can die???? Anyway I put it in another port and it started to download drivers for the keyboard. They wouldn’t d/l successfully. So then I restarted the pc and the pc started to repair errors and told me it’d do a system restore if it couldn’t fix the damage. Then a report came up ... it said something about a disk error and how a recent d/l prevented windows from starting up. Then it told me that it’ll restart the pc and if it starts up fine, I’m good. If it needs more repair, then it does. What could possibly be happening? Btw, I hear a humming from my pc. It wasn’t there before. The sound of the fan was there, but not this humming thing.

We have no way of knowing what the noise is coming from but just to play it safe I recommend backing up everything you want to save just in case it's the hard drive making the noise.
Then I would recommend doing a hard drive test using the manufacturers program.

After posting here I shut down the pc and opened it up ... becuz I'm SOO pc suavy (sarcasm ) that I thought just looking inside would point out the problem lol. I cleaned while I had it open (which I do monthly) and I checked if wires were hitting things. When I restarted the humming was gone.

It's all backed up. I'm off to try to find the hard drive test that you mentioned. Thank you.
