You can use a 100 psi air compressor to remove the blades from your cpu fan.

Been there, done that

Must agree with Lady F. I always put a coffee stir stick through the fan blades before blasting the air gun.

An important reminder. I was watching a friend blow dust out of his Acer Aspire X1300 and told him not to blow the CPU fan like a pinwheel as it could damage it. He ignored me and then a few weeks later the fan started failing.

Now he wants me to replace it when I get back to Calif in May . Anyone suggest a fan replacement without the heat sink for it?

The only caution I have for using this is to make sure the blast from it doesn't spin the fans to avoid damaging them.
Yea, that's a high price...I was just posting to show an option to consider.
I think it's normally around $60 USD when it is in stock at Newegg.
Right now it's available from Newegg, via other sellers.
I've never purchased from Newegg using another seller because I think the cost is higher.

Anyway I like it, and I use Q-tips to keep fans from spinning because I clean the fan blades with them after blasting...

Just watched the video from post #23 and would be leary of referring anyone to it as the only source of info due to the fact that he didn't block the fins from spinning or even mention it. Other than that, he did a good job.

I also noticed that he used a magnetic screw driver, is that ok?

Yes, there isn't anything inside that will be damaged by a magnetic screwdriver. The only things that could be damaged by a magnetic field are HDDs and that would take a magnet powerful enough to pick up the entire case.
