About Desktop icons

Hello Friends,
I have Acer laptop & have Windows 7 ultimate installed on it. I have save some some PDF files on my desktop. However, instead of Adobe acrobat icon, there is a thumbnail image of the PDF file appearing on the desktop. The same is the case with MS Word & MS Excel files. However I want to know that how
should I get the program icon instead of thumbnail image there. Also again if I want the thumbnail image what should I do.

Hello Vishnu

That's a Windows 7 feature. Windows 7 reads the document and generates a little screenshot and puts it as the file thumbnail. You must have seen similar thumbnails on video/music files as well. This can be disabled in this way:

1. Name: Untitled.png
Views: 1
Size: 15.3 KB

2. Name: Capture.PNG
Views: 1
Size: 39.8 KB

Hello Everybody,
Hello Nilank, I tried your suggestion and it works. So really thanks for that. However that will work universally and not individually. What will you suggest if I want some documents to be displayed as thumbnail images while other as program icons in a given location.
