Strange renaming folder problem

When I create a new folder at the root of the C: or D: drive on the navigation pane, I cannot name it more than 3 characters. The 4th character causes it to revert to the first character only.

I can rename the same folder in the right pane and it sticks.

I can also create or rename a folder at the C: or D: using a command window (run cmd)

But using the Windows Explorer always the strange 3 character limit. I have no idea what is causing it.

Has anyone else experienced this

Hello kdransom, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you like, see if downloading and merging the .reg file for the listed Folder option in the tutorial below may help. It will restore the default associations and protocols for folders, and hopefully fix this as well.

Default File Type Associations - Restore

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Strange problem with renaming/deleting
I recently reinstalled Win 7 as it had started running very slowly. That problem's gone, but now there's a new annoyance of course. ;) Whenever I rename or delete a folder, the operation isn't carried out unless I press F5 - in other words if I rename a folder to 'Games', it'll remain 'New...
