How could you get locked out of your account? Don't you use the password regularly?

Use the DVD provided to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 with the licensed version. If under 4gb RAM use 32 bit, otherwise 64 bit.

There is a step there to rescue your files using the DVD or rescue disk.

Stick closely to the steps given and you'll end up with a perfect install, which you can then save as an image so you never have to reinstall again.

Please explain this much better.

You say you bought another laptop but are locked out of it, yet you need to get your files off so must have been using it already.

What exactly have you done so far with the laptop? Did you set up a password? How are you locked out?

Ok sorry for confusion. I bought a new laptop because my old ones screen went out. Now that i have my neew one im trying to get my music and pictures off it. However when i turn on the old one it goes to my admin icon amd asks for password to login and since i dont remember it i am locked out of it. So it is stuck at the first login. I have tried to reset and press f-8 and safe mode, and press f-4 i cant get into it. I even took it apart last night to remove cmos battery (someone told me it would reset password) but no avail..... it didnt reset anything

You aren't making any sense at all.

Are you trying to copy your files from your old laptop, so you can put it on your new laptop? Yes or no?

built-in admin account vs regular admin account
Pretty basic question (I think). Is the built-in administrator's account exactly the same as a manually created local administrator's account privilege wise? Or does the built-in possess inherently elevated privileges? I have googled around, however, I can't find a clear answer for this. ...
