Windows 7 desktop will not refresh occasionally

I am not sure if there is just a bug or system defect...

There are a few times that my desktop will not refresh automatically after a day use but it doesn't occure everytime. I shut down my laptop and turn on again and the problem goes away.

I even ran check disk and virus scan but nothing comes up. No problem in the disk sectors and no virus in the system.

I googled abit and there are some threads mentioned on a registry key on the DontRefresh being set to 1, I checked that as well and it is '0'. Hence I am sure the registry key isn't the problem.

I backup my harddrive content just in case it fails out of a sudden but I would like to know what could have caused the issue...

try the command sfc /scannow to see if it finds any problems.

@jch, what do you actually mean by "desktop not refreshing automatically"? Can you elaborate a bit more?

    Sorry for the late reply.

By refresh. I mean the desktop will not update itself, such as:

    - When deleting a file or moving files to another folders, the item still shows on the desktop. I need to manual refresh the desktop to update it.

    - Rename a file doesn't update and it still showing old file name until I hit F5 key

Although the problem only happened once in awhile...

Yes it does happen to me sometimes as well. Seems like an ultra low priority Windows 7 bug.
