    Windows Startup Repair Loop

    Hi.
Yesterday i went to a cafe and connected my HP Pavilion DV6 2155-dx to the energy plug, i didn't notice i had to turn on the switch that was next to it so the computer died early (the battery is faulty so it gave about 10 minutes of charge) so i tried many times thinking the computer was failing, it was turning on for some seconds then shutdown, etc.
The last time it gave a message recommending me to launch the Startup Repair so i accepted it (by the time i had found a useful power plug)
And after many tries, i'm stuck in the loop. It can't repair it so this is my problem detail.

    Problem Event Name: StartupRepairOffline
    Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
    Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
    Problem Signature 03: unknown
    Problem Signature 04: 21199842
    Problem Signature 05: AutoFailover
    Problem Signature 06: 19
    Problem Signature 07: CorruptRegistry
    OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
    Locale ID: 1033

I've read quite a few threads about this problem but my case seems unique.
I can't acces Command Prompt, Startup Repair is the only option
All the boot options form the boot menu get me to the Startup Repair, including Last Known Point, and deactivating the System Failure Restart.

I don't have the Recovery disks of this computer (my sister gave this PC to us).
Could get a W7 Ultimate installer ISO file, if it can help.

I need to solve this, urgently.

    Please and thank you.

Try "system restore" from win7 recovery environment.

If system restore doesn't fix it.... try Startup Repair Infinite Loop Recovery

What is the date/time of files in folder \windows\system32\config\regback ?
All is working fine again? If so thne you can delete folder \windows\system32\config\mybackup

Also try unplugging battery and power adapter, holding Power button for 10 seconds to release residual power, then replugging adapter to see if it starts. If not, replug battery and try again.

What is the licensed version of the OS on the COA sticker? Very few DV6's come with Ultimate. Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Well, thank you for your responses, but none of them works in this PC :/.
I can't access any other option but Startup Repair.

The Ultimate DVD is a downloaded ISO, this DV6 never came with a W7 disk cause it was bought from a reseller.
Will it work too or do i need to strictly get the Home Premium DVD ?

Use the licensed OS on the COA sticker, downloaded from step 1 in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
and burned to DVD or written to flash stick using tool in Step 2.

If you'd look at Option Two in System Recovery Options it shows how to access them from the booted installer or Repair CD.

There are other steps here which try everything possible for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start

have you tried to cancel the repair while its running and see if it gets you to a menu? is so access the command prompt option and type these commands. (without the quotations)

    1. type "bootrec /rebuildbcd"

    2. type "bootrec /fixboot"

    3. type "bootrec /fixmbr"

if you cannot, you may need a windows 7 copy that is the same version as yours. so if you have ultimate 32 or 64 bit , or home premium 32 or 64 bit etc., you will need that disk. (you can use a burned iso).

same thing in the command prompt when using the disk.

this may or may not help in your case, but it wont hurt anything. it will just get you further if not fixed.

one more thing if you can access the command prompt that would help is, (do not include quotations.)

    1. type "diskpart"

    2. type "list volume"

    3. list all the Volumes Ltr marked as NTFS. (most importantly the one that is 100 MB size and the one below it)

    4. type "exit"

    5. type "checkdisk /r X:" (where X is the Ltr you saw when following the last step.) do this for the 100 mb volume and the one below it. (if your not sure or if your volume list is different, than do them all) it will take some time.

if the system is still not booting but at least saying something different, than run the start up repair from the disk after all this. even if you have to do it more than once. sometimes this helps a lot.

I've tried to cancel it but it doesn't allow me.

I'll try the repair with the ISO.
Fortunately it doesn't have any information or files it was recently restarted when my sister left it, but it's an unuseful PC by now nonetheless :|

did you try the esc button while its running?

P.S. if all else fails and you cannot repair it and have to do a re install from scratch, you can use the iso to re-install as long as its the exact same version of windows. use the product key on your computer after you finish the installation. not during. it fails sometimes if you do it that way. just a tip because ill be gone for a while and figure you will ask that question if it comes to a re install.
