The error is almost always a bad installer. I've only seen it really need SATA controller driver once in four years.

what vista king said, I was attempting a clean reinstall of windows 7 but apparently it's asking for drivers I don't even have for the hard drive. I'm pretty unlucky.

Andrew lets try to install using a USB flash drive

Open Command Prompt with administrator privileges known as Elevated Command Prompt. To do this, click on type cmd in the Search programs and files box and then hit Ctrl + Shift + Enter. Or right-click on CMD under Programs(1) and choose Run as administrator . Type in the commands below . ( Press [ENTER] after every command )

    Code:
    DISKPART
    LIST DISK
    SELECT DISK #
    CLEAN
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
    SELECT PARTITION 1
    ACTIVE
    FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK
    ASSIGN
    EXIT
    EXIT
       Note

    # is the number of the hard drive . Disk 0 is the first hard drive .
Assign command assigns a drive letter if you want to assign a letter yourself type in this command ASSIGN LETTER=[input letter here ] without the brackets

Copy the contents of the DVD to the USB flash drive . Then boot off the flash drive

Do you know where I could find a good installer? Or do you know how to find a SATA controller driver so I can proceed with the installation? I think if either one works out, I'm successful with solving this boot up issue.
