programs load muich faster in vista than win7?

went to my second hd to boot vista for a change. win7 is on my first hd.

was shocked to see programs booted up on vista in the snap of a finger while on win7 they take 30 seconds or so. wondering why vista is so fast.....

When`s the last time you defragged 7 ?

If a program is taking 30 seconds to open up on 7, then you have something wrong. I would defrag it a few times and run ccleaner.

There`s no reason for that to happen.

Also you could check you startup programs in msconfig by going to - start - run - msconfig - startup: disable any programs that you do not need on start up

    Hi there
If you switch to an SSD for the OS you shouldn't ever have to complain again about speed of load of programs whatever OS you use.

    Cheers

Even with a HDD a program should take no more then 2 to 3 seconds to open, faster once it`s loaded into memory.

mssong, I must say, you are probably the 1st person ever to say " Wondering why Vista is so fast "

checked startup in msconfig, practically nothing

is set to load on startup, just the OS, the monitor profiler, and these :

    MS security client
    common sdk
    cpmonitor A
    java

OK then, do you have any programs running in the background ? Other then MSE.

Have you done what I suggested yet ?

The AV problem could be the reason. Do you run the same AV program on both systems.
