New Warning Now When I Drag & Drop

I am now getting this dialogue when I move a file/folder from one to another. I have no idea what this would have to do with IE but 'seems' to have started after installing recent update that installs IE10. This is very annoying. Any help out there?

On the same drive or network drive to local drive?

Try a total reset of IE:
Internet Explorer - Reset

Did you try resetting IE?

not yet - how would this 'move' file/folder operation be relative to IE?

I recall having this issue years ago at the office. Changing a setting within IE changed when we saw the warning. But, that was when working on a network drive. If you search the internet for the text of the warning, you should find people detailing various ways to change IE's settings to get rid of the warning.

Since your file moves are local (on the same drive), I'm not sure that resetting IE will help - but it is a starting place.

I've read that files can contain a marker that tells the operating system that they were downloaded from the internet. Do you see this warning when you move a file that did not come from the internet?

Make a new text document
Save a bit of text in it
Move it from (and to) the same folders that give you this warning for some other file...

resetting IE did nothing - new text document did nothing.

re-named original folder, created new folder with original folder's name and move all files/folders into it. Resolved!

(go figure ...)
