Compatibility of RAID 1 with Windows 7 Ultimate

I am having to do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate and would like to implement RAID 1 for data duplication afterwards. My CompTIA A+ textbook says RAID 1 is supported only by server OSs such as Windows Server 2003 and I wonder if Windows 7 Ultimate would support RAID 1. I am looking forward to receiving any advice.

    Regards,

    Dee

RAID is available as a built-in function of many motherboards SATA controllers. Also there are add-in cards for your PCI and PCI-E slots that can perform RAID functions.

So any OS that can run on these motherboards or can support these add-in cards can
be set up for RAID if they have the drivers available for that OS.

I run RAID1 on my Network Attached Storage device (Netgear DNS-323) and I've also got RAID 1 working on the wife's XP file server at work (with a Highpoint RAID card).

I run RAID 5 on my Win7 Ultimate x64 desktop with a Highpoint RAID card also.
