Open Command Window Here option not working in Windows 7 Professional
Hi All,
I use Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. I want to open folders in command prompt from windows explorer without having me to navigate in the cmd window to my folder. After researching in google, I came to know that there is an option (Open Command Window Here) in the right-click menu to open command prompt windows quickly. However, when I right-click I do not see that option. Instead I see an option called “cmd”. When I hold shift key and right click on this option I get an error message. See attached.
I tried to google this error in internet but couldn’t get any clues as to why this happens. Some sites suggested me to delete the "Extended" registry keys in the following nodes:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\cmd
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\cmd
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell\cmd
I tried to delete the “Extended” key from the above registry nodes and restarted my laptop but didn’t help.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
