First I'm going to check if I reconnected the keyboard completely correctly when I re-assembled it after I disassembled it for cleaning it out.
The memory should be easy. Like most laptops, it's one of the easiest to expose. There's a section of the chassis that will come off from the underside for easy memory access, much like the compartments for the HDD and Wireless card.
Being that it's so old it'll only take DDR2 though. Should be cheap. Since we're using 32 bit Windows 8 I'll upgrade it to 4GB (2 x 2GB). There's no reason to go beyond that.
All she really uses this computer for is videos and messengers and general browsing anyway. I do have to admit that Win8 runs well for low-end systems. But I figure that's because it was practically designed for it (surface pro and tablets).
