    Dell E521 W/4gb ram. Can I update to Win7?

    Hi,
I have a older Dell E 521 tower that is running fine on XP (originally came w/ Vista) Now that I have heard that XP may finally be on the way out would I be able to update to Windows 7? The tower is basically stock with the added ram I installed last year. The HD is I think 75gb so I might also update to 150.

    Hi jjr

Take a look at the link below

    Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

It will tell you if your hardware could run Windows 7.

You would need to purchase a legit copy of Windows 7 .

If it came with Vista (Vista capable), means it should flawlessly run Windows 7. Make sure you have atleast 1 gig of RAM but 2 GB is strongly recommended.

    Thanks,

Dell has Vista 32/64 bit drivers so you should be OK. Be sure to download and use the Dell sound driver for proper operation. Most others will probably be installed by Win 7.
