Help choosing the best version of Windows and Office

I am a student and have the option to purchase Windows and Office through either a download (DreamSpark, Kivuto) or purchasing physical cd media that says academic student media through the college bookstore.

Also, will the license allow for me to transfer the license to a new computer (provided it's only installed on ONE computer at a time as per EULA.)

Which option will be best for me? I don't want to run into consistent problems, and I am using the software in accordance with the EULA. I am not sure about the retail, VL versions etc.....

IMO Office 2007 is probably the cheapest you could find especially if you can get a "Student" copy -- ask the educational establishment about these programs -- Office 2010 is also OK too.

As for the OS well you are on a W7 forum so most people would probably say use W7 if you can find it anywhere. However contrary to what you might have read W8 isn't as hideous as people make it out to be --only you can really decide your OS of choice. Probably though as a student W7 is likely to be a better choice as this is likely to be more compatible with your college.

Definitely get the OFFICE from your college -- Office 2007 does have an advantage over newer versions in that you can install it on 3 computers - and there's almost no difference in 2007 to later versions.

Thanks, but my question was is there an advantage in buying either the CD version from the bookstore (Student) or ISO from Dreakspark w/backup cd (about same price) meaning less hassles over re-installs, etc...... I think the CD says for student media for Student Academic use only (I am a current university student eligible to purchase) student media. DreamSpark Premium you have to use their download manager and it may be a pain in the ..........

I specifically answered your question that you should download the ISO to burn to DVD or write to flash stick using Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool.

This way you have the installer in hand for immediate installation and any necessary repairs.
