Ghost file appearing only when I search for it

    Hi,

I have a file that only appears when I search for it ex, if i type *.gif, it appears in the explorer window.
when i try to delete it I get a message saying "this is no longer located in (path) verify the item's location and try again"

how can i delete this file for good or how can I make it not appear on the searches anymore ??

    Hello qwertymikey,

You might see if using the free program Unlocker on it may be able to delete this ghost file for you.

    Hope this helps, :)

Hmmm, ok. Have you already restarted the PC to see if it's still there afterwards?

If so, give this a try:
    1. Open Notebook
    2. In Notebook, click on File (menu bar) and Open.
    3. In the "Open" dialog, navigate to where this ghost file is at.
    4. Then see if you may be able to delete it with Unlocker from within the "Open" dialog.

hi yeah, it wasnt working so i just copied all the files to the desktop and removed the folder

but now i have another problem. when I was searching I right clicked and in sort by I chose name (as in sort by name) and now i cannot deselect it :S how can i sort by nothing (only when searching in the folder) ??

also when i right click i get an option that says play with cyberlink powerdvd even though I already removed that program.

    sorry for off topic
