    help with finding burner

    hi guys,

I have been trying to burn a dvd using windows media player - this has always worked before when i have done this.the burn started and then after about a min the dvd had finished, however " unable to find burner / your burner is still in use popped up" and nothing is burnt onto the dvd.
Im very confused because this happens all the time and I cant get dvds burned or data dvds done.

I hope your able to help me with a fix

Please fill in the "My System Specs" as that will help us to try and help you.

In addition, go to the Device Manager and see if there is an error code for the drive. Report back with the error code. If it shows "working OK", RIGHT click to highlight the drive then LEFT click "uninstall". Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the drive. This fixes any drive corruption in Windows and also many flakey problems, if you are lucky it will fix yours.

You can access the Device Manager by clicking the Start Orb then RIGHT click on "Computer" then LEFT click on "Properties". The Device Manager can be accessed from the upper left task list.

What are you trying to burn to the dvd ?

I would only use media player to RIP songs to a cd, never tried it with a dvd yet, never needed to.

Windows has built in burning software.

My suggestions concerning the Device Manager still stand. Do this first and post back.

It's best to use a proper DVD burner program like imgburn. Don't click on the ads, click on the download for ImgBurn where it says, v2.5.7.0 Released! Use the .iso build to create the .iso. after that you can use the write option.
