I know that this may seem to be a silly question.
I notice that on occasions when I have been troubleshooting USB Flash Drives - the letter say (F:) will change.
Does Windows change the drive?
As when I have my D: - I has it as not shared. When I insert the USB Flash Drive into the other computer it takes on E: and it becomes shared.
If someone could please assist me, that would be great.
The assigned drive letter is specific to each computer, not the drive itself.
As for it sharing on one and not the other, likely different sharing settings between the two computers.
As Stormy mentioned, the PC determines the drive letter. The drive letter used will usually be the next available drive letter that isn't already in use. If one PC has more drives already in use than the other PC the USB thumb drive will end up with a higher drive letter. You can't have two devices with the same drive letter on the same PC.
The USB drive letter can even change on the same computer. It all depends in which sequence you attach different USB devices. There is nothing magic about a drive letter - except for C:.

Do I just take the sharing option on the computer which the drive is in a shared status?
I guess most of the External USB drives have been shared at one time on the (User) computer and not mine.
I tend not to have mine in a shared status. I do not know of any other way of not sharing my content with the other computer.
I guess disabling network access is not an option as both use the same Internet which is wireless.
