Windows 7: Event ID 10016 -- DCOM permissions error

I'm not sure if I did this correctly, but I added LOCAL SERVICE to the Groups list, and gave it Full Control. I did this for both keys.

However, the result was the same...the error 10016 persists.

Do you know what program is causing this?

I'm inclined to ignore it unless something goes wrong and it seems to be related to the error.

Open this key HKLM\Software\Classes\AppID\{C97FCC79-E628-407D-AE68-A06AD6D8B4D1}

(this key comes from any 3p applications) ,read strings there,if you have trouble with identefication just post this key here

It looks like the value is IPBusEnum, which looks like something to do with PnP.

I think I'm getting in over my head here and don't want to mess things up.

Can I go back to those keys and delete the LOCAL SERVICE group that was added without causing problems?

because you have it,I suspect it belongs to any non-system components and should be there any information about owner.

run cmd.exe and type:

REG EXPORT HKLM\Software\Classes\AppID\{C97FCC79-E628-407D-AE68-A06AD6D8B4D1} %userprofile%\Desktop\log.txt

on your desktop appear log.txt file,attache it to post

1.LOCAL SERVICE is account not group
2.If LOCALE SERVICE didn't have any rights to those keys then yes otherwise you can only restore original rights...or just leave it as you have already.In my system LOCAL SERVICE don't have any rights for HKLM\Software\Classes\AppID\{344ED43D-D086-4961-86A6-1106F4ACAD9B} key,what about the second? -I don't know.

You've right.It was my mistake this time.Yes I have this key too.Check only in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IPBusEnum ObjectName string is set LocalSystem (image below)

I have the same error come up in Win 7 Ultimate. I have amended the registry key permissions as suggested, rebooted but still can't amend the DCOM settings. Admininstrators, Trusted Installer and System all have full permissions. Any suggestions? I've been trying to install Win 7 SP1 beta with no luck.

Can you post exactly error message?I think it's very important too also what SID is mentioned in error message.Possibly you have to add another account to permission...
