No crash, everything just freezes for about a minute, then resumes?

Been noticing this for a while: Whenever I'm off the computer during the day, I place it on sleep. At the end of the day, I completely shut down. Not sure if what I'm about to describe occurs shortly after waking up from sleep or shortly after boot up. Nonetheless, as I'm browsing, or in my email, all of a sudden everything freezes, can't move a thing, nothing responding. The arrow cursor turns ino a small blue circle, but he circle is not rotating. This lasts for about a minute or less, and then everything resumes as if nothing happened. What's happening?

Hard to say, slow hard drive from a Windows Index service, malware, browser plugin ... could be a lot of things. If it was me I would reinstall Windows ... but that might be extreme for you.

Thanks. But, you are right, your suggestion is a little too extreme for me. It's really not such a big del and I'll guess I'll just live with it.

Hello, try to open the ressource monitor and keep an eye on it, redo it for every tabs and see if something goes to 100% and what provoke it.

You may want to make a checkdisk using your hard-drive tools (WD life guard / seatools, depends the brand you're using)

That is a good idea, you could also run FileMon from microsoft and see what is spiking things too.

Work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 starting with the hardware tests.

I'd also suggest you use the modern Hibernate feature which is perfected in Win7, writes the RAM to HD and shuts down the PC so that it starts up with everything saved in place, but twice as fast or faster. This may save wear on the RAM which has to hold power and everything on it during sleep.

My computer freezes every few seconds then resumes.
After I start up my computer it seems to work fine but starts to freeze for 3-5 seconds the returns to work normally, this lasts for about 30 seconds before it freezes again. I'm pretty sure this isn't virus or internet connection related. I have been trying to pin point the problem for the last...

One minute freezes
My Win7x64 home was installed recently by AVAdirect (the computer builder). I haven't seen any BSOD but perhaps a few times a day it freezes for 30 or 60 seconds and then merrily goes on its way as if nothing wrong ever happened. I see lots of warnings in the system health test (attached) but I...
