Studio 1558. Missing Drivers,No Internet after Restore

Hi, I had problems with my fans the other day on my Dell Studio 1558 laptop, the fans were'nt working so the laptop was shutting down after about 10 mins use, so stupidly I decided to try to restore the laptop to factory settings while I was having these problems to see if it would restart the fans, but halfway through the restore the laptop would be so hot it shut down.
So I fixed the fan problem and thought great I can do the restore now, but its been a nightmare. Since I restored:
-I can only log in as Administrator but don't know the password, so I restart in safe mode and change it so I can log in.
-I have no internet access, well I have limited access.
    - Everytime I start up Windows I get 'Failed to connect to a windows service'
-My CD/DVD rom won't work, it has a yellow symbol on it, but have ran diagnosis and that says its ok. I have a restore disc but can't use it. It will take discs but makes loud noises when it spins.
-USB stick was working but not any more, I was trying to download files from another laptop to put on mine.
I hope someone on hear has had a problem like this and can help me?
Im running Windows 7 HE 64 bit.

    "Loud noises when it spins"...

Is it just the noise of a fast-spinning CD drive, or is it more?

Can you boot the machine from a bootable CD? (I believe that F12 is the one-time boot order selector on a Dell.)

Dell Factory Preinstall is a corrupt install larded with bloatware and duplicate factory utilities that have better versions built into Win7, causing problems and throttling Win7 native perfect performance.

That's why most tech enthusiasts will not run such an install but prefer to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Everything you need is in the blue link. Read it over carefully and ask back any questions as we'll be here to help you.

Download your network LAN driver from the Dell Support Downloads webpage for your tag number and save it in your backup, so if Win7 doesn't start up connected you can install it to get online quickly. Then run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates which will deliver most of the rest of the drivers. Any drivers still missing after install in Device Manager can be found on the same Dell webpage.

Before install run Dell Diagnostics Utility - How to Run the to check over the hardware. If it won't run you can delete it along with all other partitions during the install.

I'm replying off the iPhone so I can't see names, the DVD rom, if I put a disc in it sounds like its going to start but then makes a sound like its jumping in the drive. Sorry it's hard to describe. In the device manager, the right numbers are there but a yellow mark on it. With no Internet access I can't update the driver.
To the member who told me to download the windows, I am downloading now but a Chinese version as there was only 3 languages none of which were English. So would would I get the download onto my laptop when it won't recognise my DVD or USB?
Apologies again, I can't see your user names but thank you for the replies.

Thanks Kaktussoft, but I managed to plug a external DVDrom into one of the USB slots and boot from startup. It worked with internet and all drivers back. Over the moon.
    Thank you for the replies.

You were able to do the Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7?

Clean Reinstall = Best possible install if you follow the steps, better than 95% of users have.

Dell Factory Pre-install/Recovery = One of the worst installs of WIn7 one can have.

Your choice. That's why Dell provides the Reinstallation DVD, because they know the pre-install is crap and want you to have the choice to reinstall to get a perfect install. Everything is provided in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

I've always used the recovery built into the laptop and never had a problem but the laptop was overheating and switched off midway through the recovery. This time I used the disc supplied when I bought the laptop at the end of 2010. I'm just happy I have my Internet back and everything seems ok at the minute. Again thanks for the replies.

Then at the minimum I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware establishing a Clean Boot to keep freeloaders from starting with Windows. None of the preinstalled crap is needed except to gum up Win7. For best performance install Microsoft Security Essentials after uninstalling the security bloatware that comes preinstalled.

If your laptop is overheating I'd study how to clean out the dust best:
    Cleaning Your Laptop Cooling System
How to clean your laptop & stop it from overheating (Dell Inspiron)

I'd also run Dell Diagnostics Utility - How to Run the from the F12 key at boot, to check the condition of your hardware.

Bookmark the Clean Reinstall tutorial in case you ever decide you want a decent install to enjoy WIn7's native performance.
