    No PDF previews in Explorer

I recently reinstalled Windows, and my mum was using my computer to open a PDF file, but since I hadn't installed Adobe Reader yet, the file couldn't open, so she attempted to open it in Internet Explorer...
So anyway, I installed Adobe Reader X, but the default program to open PDFs was still set as Internet Explorer, so I had to change it to open with Adobe Reader.
It opens properly now, but there's one problem, there are no PDF file previews in Explorer; if I make the icons bigger it just shows a big Adobe icon.
I tried the fix here: Fixes for 64-bit Adobe Reader preview handler and thumbnails but it doesn't work. I also tried using an alternative PDF reader (Sumatra) but I still get no previews. Any help would be appreciated

Did you delete the iconcache and thumbcaches and reboot after installing the PDF fix?

    Just a thought...
Have you tried Fox It Reader....go to foxit.com and download free version.
Not as bloated as Adobe Reader.
I have used it for about 8 months now and to date no problems.

What happened when you tried this?
I used the no install version on a number of Windows 7 x64 system and it works like a charm.

Without installer: Adobe Reader x64 fixes 001 noinstaller.zip

Be sure to read how to install.txt in the zip file.

Nothing happens, it's exactly the same as before.
Plus I suspect it's referring to versions of Adobe Reader 8 and below because it says that "they fixed it in version 9"; I'm using Adobe Reader X. I think it's got something to do with the initial association with Internet Explorer

    What Browser?

In IE9 you can try adding the website to compatabilty mode, also temporarily turn of tracking and see if that cures it.
