Problems With Latest Windows Update - Some Functions Not Working

Yesterday when I turned off my laptop it said it was installing a windows update 1 of 1 and do not shut down computer. After about 15 minutes or so it was still not installed and since I'm having seperate issues with my battery I didn't let it finish and took out the battery.I put the battery back in rebooted and started in safe mode. Shut down turned it back on again and everything was fine. But today I'm having issues with my laptop. Certain things on websites I can click on... but nothing happens. Windows Media Player doesn't load or show up. Most everything seems to working fine, just a few little annoying things.Waht can I do to fix this? I hade normal windows updates today which were updated so all seems to be OK. Just a few annoting little things. What I can I do?

Try restoring to the last windows restore point and allow the updates to run properly (on mains power).

That could work, but I have no idea how to do that (restoring to the last windows restore point). Would you be able to walk me through it?

According to "Windows Update" I have seven updates that failed and weren't installed and were demed as important. I don't how to install them but I'm going to try and see if that solves the problem. If anyone else can give me some advice/help I would appreciate it.

It wasn't seven different updates it was just one windows update where the installation failed several times. It was successful today as it was dated successful on May 20/2013 but the same problems still persist.

That is the reason it says Do Not Turn Your Computer Off, it really means it. Here is a tutorial for system restore, plug into your main power before trying updates and restore. both have to complete uninterupted or you will be doing a clean install of w7.

Britton I hear you, and that's the first time I've ever done it. I did it because of issues with my battery and it was late at night and I didn't want to wait for it to shut down by itself after the updates were installed. What I've found it during the course of the day is it seems to be an Internet Explorer problem. Mozilla Firefox seems to be fine and Google Chrome has no issues with the minor technical issues IE was/is having. For instance I can't display Google images or clear browsing history in IE. And Windows Media Player has not worked today either.I guess I'll just have to use Google Chrome for now. I'll see the System Restore you gave (thanks), but right now it seems like an IE problem.

This may help, run the steps outlined in this tutorial, Option Two, and reboot the system:
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
If that doesn't correct the issue, run it two or more times with a reboot between.
You may get this result:
Code:
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired
them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log
The system file repair changes will take effect after the next reboot.
Or a message that no integrity violations were found.
Or that Windows Resource Protection found errors it cannot repair, if so rerun the steps above.

Greetings! I have Acer Aspire 5750G. My current BIOS version is 1.07. The latest version is 1.12. There are a few versions in between. Should I do incremental updates and reach 1.12 or should I just go direct to 1.12? Many Thanks!
