ownership of file and subfolder all permissions set still cant edit

    Hi seven forums im new!

ive been trying to change the "welcome" and "logging off..." messages, i have the folder changed and compiled, ive taken ownership of the folder i need to drop it into and changed the permission settings of that folder and sub folder that im modifying, problem is when i go to copy and replace i still get " permissions are required"

any one got any ideas because dropping the file in is all i need to do

    thanks

What folder, what file(s). If you are following a tutorial, post a link to it please.

Thanks for the link. Seems like a lot of work to change something you seldom see :)

Anyway, two things come to mind.

    1. Disable UAC, reboot and try it.
    2. Boot to Safe Mode and try it.

my UAC was off and tried in safe more, still no success. it wouldnt let me copy and replace but would let me add files so i added the new file renamed the old one and then renamed the new one to the name of the old one. seems to have worked!

was meant to be an easy quick thing to do but when it didnt work i couldnt be defeated, thank god its over!! :)

thank you for you time and help!
