    taskhost.exe C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe aepdu.dll,aepdurunupdate

Hi recently I spotted taskhost in task manager have such a long name:

    taskhost.exe C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe aepdu.dll,aepdurunupdater

it was the first time I seen a taskhost have such long name in task manager I check on a few others computer but they don't seem to have this.

The taskhost with the name in the task manager disappear after sometime when I reboot and check again it doesn't seem to have appear though I check the task manager only like 30min once.

Do anyone by any chance know why this process appear? Have I by any chance set something without realizing it?

According to the article below, this is a part of the Program Compatibility Data Updater:

aepdu.dll - Program Compatibility Data Updater by Microsoft - Boost Your PC. (don't download and install their program called "Boost" - I'm only sharing this article for reading)

Judging by "aepdurunupdater" that follows right after "aepdu.dll", it sounds to me that it's just Windows running the updater.

taskhost handles so much in Windows 7, best to be running a decent anti-virus/malware product and scan systems once a week.

Try this site for lots of .dll specific info:

I did a bit of searching and found a program data update schedule in the task scheduler. I check the timing of it on another computer the next day and on the task manager but " taskhost.exe C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe aepdu.dll, aepdurunupdater" did not appear instead I have only ever seen "taskhost.exe $(Arg0)" or "taskhost.exe SYSTEM" I have never seen taskhost with such a long name in task manager which is why I decided to ask around to see if any one know why this appear.

On the computer that I check, I went to the even viewer and found that it has already started but that long name did not appear in task manager so I am a bit confuse whether it's something I should be worried about.

On the computer where you're seeing "taskhost.exe C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe aepdu.dll, aepdurunupdater", are any of your programs set to run in Compatibility Mode? I don't know if this is the answer, but it's the only thing I can think of.

I don't think so....the programs have been there since the start so that taskhost should be there right from the start if that is the case. I haven't install any thing this few months and none of the current program has ask me to set the view. Is it possible for windows updates or programs updates to cause buggy performance on certain computer?
