    Start and explorer search function broken?


    The problem....

    Typing anything into the search box on the start menu or in windows explorer/control panel has no effect, no results are found. It doesnt say no result are found it just displays nothing. This extends to everything, searching for files as well as things like 'cmd' and 'regedit'.

    Example - If i search for 'notes', the name of a txt file on my desktop, it finds nothing. If I then click see more results I get the following message. "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"
    I am the only user on my laptop and am of course the admin so this message makes no sense.


    Solutions tried....

    - Doing a full reindexing of everything from the indexing options.
    - Turning the search feature off, restarting and turning it on again.
    - Using the inbuilt troubleshooter to find problems (none found).
    - Using the downloaded troubleshooter from microsoft (found two problems and corrected them, still not working though).

    So now i'm out of ideas. Can anyone suggests any fixes?

    After searching all day I've found a solution to the problem in another forum.

    Navigate to this folder,
    c:\Users\Your name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\1033\
    And delete the file StructuredQuerySchema.bin

    Its that simple, my search started working straight away. With so many complicated fixes and solutions why didnt microsoft know about this.

Search Function Start Menu Broken

After installing a registry fix to fix my issue with renaming/moving/creating folders, the search function seems to be broken in the start menu. I search something that I searched a thousand times before, and it always instantly and forever says that there are no items matching my search.
Check screenshot for more details. Search function works just fine, for example, in Drive D or E.
I'm not really sure how to explain this and this is my first post so I think I will just show you, yeah, that's probably the best way. The best way I see to explain it is instead of a list of the files and programs found in the start search showing up it just shows a few files like Documents.file,...
Some one Plz help im having search box problems i was looking for other forum post that would help but so far havnt found any useful information so heres the problem i try to use my start seach bar and i get only a couple of results and if i try to run them they say its a internet security problem...
