i am looking for a prog to replace windows explorer with

I have a Gateway md2614u laptop os Win7 home 32bit. Right now I use FreeCommander instead of Windows Explorer. FreeCommander meets my needs except for 1 bug. Sometimes FreeCommander will lock up when I right click on a file or dir. Normally if I go into Windows Explorer and del the file or dir and do it over again or open the file in Windows Explorer, that fixes the problem. It is an annoying little bug. Is there any other freeware prog's like FreeCommander available that don 't have the bug in it?

    Hi there
Why not use THIS version (It's called File Manager).

    Cheers

I have used Free Commander for years without seeing that problem. Most likely this is a problem with an explorer extension and not a fault within Free Commander itself.

I actually prefer Windows Explorer (especially in Windows 7) and use it for my everyday file management but I do have Xplorer2 for those times when I need to transfer lots of files between multiple drives/folders.

I have experienced a similar problem with FreeCommander.

    On my PC:

    • The context menu handler seems to occasionally "dummy spit".
    • It doesn't occur any more often than Windows Explorer crashing.

FreeCommander has an excellent mass renaming tool (I use it regularly).

My own preference is Directory Opus -- but it's not free. I'm a fan of multi-window file managers and this one provide the most features of any I've found.
