Having a problem with my computer drive D :(

Hi all !

I just recently noticed that my drive D has lost all the data i had stored in there, it just says i have all the space suddenly free. I don't understand what could have caused this and i don't suppose there is any way i could get my lost data back? I have a samsung laptop, windows 7 with a wireless internet connection.
I was on my laptop and i had to quickly plug it in to the charger because it was nearly dead but before i connected it all in my laptop's battery died so i turned it back on and pressed 'start windows normally'. Not sure if thats the reason ???
Also i sometimes adjust my screen resolution to play certain online games to make it fit the screen.
Any help will be greatly appreciated !

p.s. I'm only 15 so don't judge too harshly on my lack of computer knowledge

Lets have a look at your disk/partition layout before we suggest a solution:

Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image

We do need to see the Disk mgmt screenshot first.

If external reads as Unallocated then do not format it! Instead try Partition Wizard Partition Recovery Wizard - Video Help. This is a simple undelete operation that will reinstate the Partition if it was somehow deleted.

Next try Partition Wizard Partition surface test followed by Partition Wizard Check File System on the external to determine it's condition.

If all else fails to restore the data you may need to use data recovery software like Recuva - Features

yes the sudden battery dead may be the cause, at that moment while there's still activity in d: drive. go to disk management n notice the type of partition for d: in any case, set the partition to be primary. if the partition is damaged, you can use partitioning software to repair it. but for convenience, i recommend this as reliable tool : EaseUS Partition Master Partition Recovery Tutorial; tutorial on how to recover deleted or lost partitions by EaseUS Partition Master.
