I have seen the first two links before I post the thread
and I think the third also . what I got is that :
Dark fiber is a term used to describe fiber optic cable that is not being used at the time. The amount of unused fiber, particularly in the United States, is very high. This is contrasted with active fiber optic cable, often referred to as lit cable.

I didn't get what wiki showed or the other sites also, earlier and now, and feel no intention to read them .
may one simplify the matter ?

what is the problem if companies sold fibers ? and why the amount of unused fibers meant for communication purposes is important to think about ?
