MSconfig causes command prompt to show on bootup

Hi,
I used msconfig (selective Start-up) and I'm done. So, I went back to "Normal Start-up" , now, I've got the command prompt popping up during boot up. (Just before the icons appear on screen)

It can flash on for a split second or stay for a second or 2. It's a blank screen and there is nothing in the Start-up directory.

I've had this happen before but I don't remember what solved it.

that didn't work

Great now I have Regclean pro recreating itself I can't uninstall it.

What methods have you tried uninstalling it? You could try http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html to a time prior to you installing it.

If you go back to Normal startup everything you unchecked in the startup tab will run during startup . Which will slow down the PC and could allow malware start if you have malware .

Click here DDS

:ar: Click on Download Now button

:ar: When the download is complete . Drag the DDS program from the Downloads folder to your Desktop

:ar: Double click the DDS icon on the Desktop then click the Run button to run the tool.

:ar: Place a check next to attact.txt and click Start . When done, DDS will open two logs

DDS.txt
Attach.txt

:ar: Save two logs onto your desktop and upload them with your reply

It kind of sounds like regclean pro might be malware?

Agreed Dwarf or if it proves real hard dump it via Revo or regedit

I did a restore point right before I downloaded the fix. But the restore point left the files on my computer. so it recreated itself. I did NOT get a chance to try the download from bleeping computer (I'm not big on downloading anything else right now.)
I also did a complete backup before I down loaded.
I did a complete restore of my hard drive from my backup. Only took a few minutes and I'm fine.

No offence mohavepc but personally I distrust add on scanners with a vengeance had too many problems with them on fixes I have domne and in the pst when I was a tad more naive.

I was going to try DDS but I'm confused. I get ad for AVG anti virus and the link at bleeping computer? Looks Like I need to do a full reinstall of my software...lol that's will be an interesting chore. The bleeping computer download says it may not work on 64-bit which I am 64-bit .

I am pretty sure RegClean Pro is some form of malware. Before you start uninstalling things in a panic, or system restoring, can you try to answer some/all of my questions below? To allay any fears - checking any of these would not require downloading anything at this stage.

Aside from it recreating (i.e. running) every boot-up, are you experiencing other problems?

Which anti-virus client do you have installed on your machine? Are you able to run it?

Do you have any other anti-malware software installed (Spybot, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware)? Can you run these?

Are you able to right-click the start bar and Start Task Manager?

Most of these phoney registry cleaners/anti-virus impersonators (e.g. RegClean Pro, most likely) tend to stop you from running the programs required to clear them up.

If you can't start Task Manager, that will be the most immediate indicator that your PC has been malware-infected to a point where we need to run through a full clean-up process.

See if you can download DDs from this link http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds

Disable any script blocking protection
Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
1. DDS.txt
2. Attach.txt <--- will be minimized in the task tray
Save both reports to your desktop.

Include the contents of both logs in your next post.
The scan will instruct you to post Attach.txt as an attachment.

Does it do it when you go back to "Selective Startup"?

I would install cCleaner, and in the "Tools" area you can delete any entries that look like suspicious re-installers of spam-malware. If you get ri of every entry you do not need, your MSconfig will go back to "Normal" startup sans the entries which are apparently re-installing some cack-ware. And yes, Regclean Pro is cack-ware, try TDSSkiller and Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit to see it if gets rid of it.

I would suggest doing as requested by VistaKing in post #4 and Jacee in post #12, and you will have a good chance of being repaired. The reason I can't state 100% is because once you used Registry Cleaner Pro their is no such thing as a 100% sure of repair without a Clean wipe and install.
No one knows what that cleaner has or has not done to Windows 7.

I did the DDS download and I'm 75% happy. It does say may not work on 64-bit.
Some 64-bit downloads are missing.
