Lenovo x220 hangs at the "Welcome" Screen

I have done a complete scan with WDO and Norton Internet Security and both came out clean.
I can get into safe mode with networking.
Windows updates are up to date.

What next?

If Startup Repair doesn't offer to automate System Restore, try it next from System Recovery Options.

It's best to run these repairs from Win7 disk or Repair CD which is provided in these steps which try everything possible for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start

Trojan found

Yes, I did Startup repair and that wasn't very helpful (Nothing was revealed as being a problem.)

I was able to get to the desktop twice. I have since run a full scan with Malawarebytes which revealed one trojan BHO and several PUPs. However I am back to being stuck at the windows welcome screen so I am going to attempt a repair with the CD that came with the laptop.

I'll let you know what happens next.

Thanks so much.

Trojan found during full Malawarebytes scan

Hi

I could not get to the desktop - just stayed stuck on Windows start screen.
I am attaching my Malwarebytes log file for review. In an earlier post I mentioned that I did a full scan.

Thanks for checking.

Did you Remove Selected Items with Malwarebytes because it says No Action Taken on them.

What is this Face Theme you applied. Is it possible it was infectious? Can you System Restore to a point before it was installed, or the trouble began?

If not run Malwarebytes again until it confirms the threats are cleaned up, then run another bootable AV from Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start, proceed with those steps until it either starts or you rescue your files to run Factory Recovery or do the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Update: Lenovo hangs at welcome screen

Hello there,

In answer to your question RE: did I remove the selected item found in the Malwarebytes scan: Yes, I removed everything.

I have since done the following:
Ran Kaspersky TDDS Killer: nothing found
Ran ADW cleaner: removed all items found in scan
Ran full scan SuperAntispyware: Remove all objects (mostly tracking cookies) and two Trojans
After the above, I did get to a desktop but I am not convinced that I have it all so

I am now running an ISO Bootable Kaspersky Rescue that I created on a clean PC. It has found one Trojan so far.

My last resort will be to go to system recovery.

Your comments and advice are most welcome.

Yes, I did run repair three times: nothing found.

When Win7 is this infected it is almost always best to wipe the HD with Diskpart Clean Command
to get the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If you want to try to continue to clean it up, see what SFC finds now - if necessary running SFC /SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot.

Remember that Factory Recovery is a corrupt install to begin with, larded with bloatware and useless duplicate utilities that have better versions built into Win7. So I'd use this as the opportunity to get the best possible install of Win7 using the tools and methods in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Sendori

I think the Sendori virus has been a big part of this problem. If I can't get consistent restarts, I am going to take your advice and perform a clean reinstall.
