How much space will a w7 Home prem. 64bit with all updates need.

Hi there!

How much space will a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit need after a fresh install, and all the updated available installed? Something like this:

Installing the OS
Reboot
Letting the OS configure itself.
Reboot
Installing all the available updates.
Reboot
Installing all the "new" updates that couldn't be updated at first.
etc.

Are you sure? So if I install all the updates, including SP1, it will land on around 20 gb? Because the system requirements for W7 Home Premium 64-bit is 20 gb, without any updates.

BTW: I have 8 gb ram, so the pagefile counts!

Okey thanks again! I'm just corious, how big is your installation now, exclouding your userdata (C:\users\yourusernamn). I know that you use another version of windows, but I'm just curious!

3 things you can adjust that can make big difference in the amount of space used:
Hibernate - with 8 GB of RAM the default hiberfil.sys file will be 6GB
Page File - With 8GB RAM you can probably set this to a min 1 GB size
System Restore - you can adjust how much space is used for Restore Points. If you use System Backup Imaging there is less need for a lot of Restore Points.

I'm using ~ 35-40 GB for the C drive with Win 7 x64. That's for the OS + programs, and the OS was installed 3+ years ago. No user data, no games, ...

My C:\ drive is a SSD and it's at 24gig with the OS and odd prog's that insist on being on the C: drive. The Windows DIR is 18 gig.

Pagefile and TMP-TEMP are on the D:\ HHD

24 GB isn't really a large enough SSD to achieve optimum results. The problem is that there isn't enough room for applications and you have to offload so much from the SSD that you loose many of it's advantages. An example being the pagefile. The performance characteristics of an SSD are a perfect match for the usage patterns of the pagefile, while the characteristics of a conventional drive could not be more wrong.
